WWII RAF Type D Leather Flying Gloves. The Type D gauntlets were intended to be worn as a part of an electrically-heated system with additional special heated inners. However, towards the end of the Second World War when the requirement for electrically-heated equipment declined, these gloves were issued with unheated rayon glove liners.
An interesting fact about flying gloves: gloves were produced in various factories. In one factory, the right gloves were produced, in another the left ones to prevent theft of these gloves by the people working there. In squadrons, pilots had to choose the gloves themselves and match the colour and shape. Therefore, it is rare to buy colour-matched gloves.
